How do I Volunteer to Serve on a Committee?

Volunteering

Committee volunteers are the backbone of the MBA's legislative, educational and member service efforts. Each year your association seeks qualified bankers who are willing to give their time to the industry to help shape the activities and policies of the MBA.

Committee appointments are one year terms (each year runs from July 1 through June 30). Committee chairpersons are appointed for two-year terms by the MBA chairman.

Serving on the MBA Marketing Committee has been both a pleasure and a valued asset. The commitment and added responsibilities are minimal, while the access to resources, networking, and comradery are extensive. It’s been a deeply rewarding experience all around.

As us marketing oddballs know, we’re often the lone salmon swimming upstream within our organizations; constantly asking the seemingly weird questions, advocating for customers and – gasp – wanting the details before things have cleared compliance, LOL. It’s easy to get lost and/or frustrated amongst a sea of innately logical and not-always-creative finance professionals. In the MBA Marketing Committee you’ll find peers to help you navigate the finance world. Be it simply translating all that wonderful jargon into conversational English for both you and the customers you advocate for or learning how to convey your marketing ideas to effectively secure buy-in across your bank; think of the committee as a two-way translator.

And the added responsibilities are essentially just putting all that collaboration into practice. Whether it’s the Marketing Forums or the annual MBA BEST Conference, the Marketing Committee works to insure our peers across the state benefit from our collective experiences and knowledge."
